Port d’Andratx in the southwest of Mallorca is considered the most beautiful harbor town on the island and was able to preserve a piece of originality with the fjord-like bay.
The winding road leads through a wooded landscape with fragrant pine trees from Camp de Mar in the southwest of Mallorca to Port d’Andratx. As if from nowhere, the last few meters reveal the pretty blue bay with its countless white boats; the Tramuntana mountains rise majestically in the background.
To the left and right of the U-shaped bay of Port d’Andratx, long and short piers and jetties jut into the harbor, many boats, from old fishing cutters to noble sailing yachts, sway in the gentle waves. The marina, considered one of the most beautiful natural harbors in the world, looks almost like a small fjord. Around 500 watercraft can dock here – and they do in the summer months – at least as it is felt. The “Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx” is especially popular with sailors, also because the sheltered harbor is so easy to approach.
In the morning you can watch the fishermen, in the afternoon their green and blue nets lie spread out on the pier and give an almost artistic picture. The catch is sold to many fine restaurants in the area, and some of the seafood can be purchased directly from the fish hall at the harbor.
The center of the village, which is popular with many day-trippers, is the promenade Avenida Mateo Bosch, located along the southern side of the harbor. Elegant cafés and restaurants are lined up here. Especially for fresh seafood and iced white wine, tourists meet, but also the residents from the villas and luxury apartment buildings settled around Port d’Andratx.
